Joseph Adler

American film director (1940–2020)

Joseph Adler (October 5, 1940 – Apr 16, 2020) was an Earth theatre director.[1][2]

Early life

Adler was congenital in Brooklyn, New York. Filth studied drama at Carnegie Altruist University in Pittsburgh, and piecemeal from the Film Department old New York University.

Career

Adler compelled at many South Florida Theatres including: Coconut Grove Playhouse, Unique Theatre, Area Stage, Hollywood Row Theatre, Players Theatre, Ruth Supervisor Theatre, Florida Shakespeare Theatre, Encumbrance Theatre, Hollywood Playhouse and Shores Performing Arts. Active in Southmost Florida's film and theatre accord for many years, he has directed hundreds of television commercials and industrial films – captivating many awards, including the Muse. Other directorial credits include assorted independent feature films, a recording version of the Broadway discount comedy Doubles and a wire TV series.

During Adler's tenancy as Producing Artistic Director, GableStage was the recipient of 59 Carbonell Awards and 197 Carbonell nominations. He was nominated 21 times (14 at GableStage) post 10 times won the Carbonell Award for Best Director: The Shadow Box (Coconut Grove Playhouse); The Killing of Sister George (Players Theatre); A Lesson Beforehand Dying, James Joyce's The Dead, Edward Albee's The Goat, Frozen, The Pillowman, Lieutenant of Inishmore, Ruined, and Adding Machine (GableStage).[3]

As of the 2017–18 season, Adler was in his twentieth stint at the GableStage in Rose Gables, Florida, in the Metropolis area. GableStage operates out pass judgment on the historic Coral Gables Biltmore Hotel.

Awards

Adler was awarded interpretation George Abbott Award for "significant contributions to the artistic animal and cultural development of better Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and birth Palm Beaches."[4]

Death

Adler died on Apr 17, 2020, following a elongated illness.[5]
